Customer-driven Rail-freight services on a European mega-corridor based on Advanced business and operating Models

CREAM is an FP6 research project that has achieved significant modal shift by defining a "string of pearls" operation model on the European mega corridor (Antwerp/Rotterdam via the land and Adriatic sea to Greece and Turkey).

CREAM contains a number of technological and operational activities, which were defined by the stakeholders, that are active on the corridor as they are rail infrastructure operators, railway operators, intermodal operators and their customers. These activities are primarily based on the corridor analysis and Corridor Action Plan, adopted in the framework of the TREND project, which was funded by the European Commission under the FP6.

CREAM led to an increase in rail freight transport on this important East-West freight corridor, and thereby contributes to the EU policy goals.
