Unlocking Bottlenecks in Europe, by developing a high quality TEN-T ports infrastructure in Romania on optimal economic terms - Feasibility study phase

This project aims to realise a feasibility study to ultimately improve the quality, safety and security of the port infrastructure in seven TEN-T ports on the Danube river: Moldova Veche, Drobeta Turnu Severin, Calafat, Giurgiu, Oltenita, Calarasi, and Cernavoda. They are all part of the Romanian water transport network that includes 32 inland waterway ports with a total capacity of 52 million tonnes/year.
Romania's river ports have a total of 16,200 m of quays, of which some 20% are said to be over 60 years old and urgently in need of reconstruction. In addition, another 65% are in poor physical condition due to lack of funds for maintenance and repairs.
