Multimodal Transport System

Design and environmental studies regarding the creation of a multimodal transport system at the Port of Dunkirk

This action consists in carrying out the necessary studies to improve the Port of Dunkirk as, at present, the port is facing a lack of deep-sea berth and its infrastructure is impeding further traffic development. These studies are required to ensure that the global project fulfils design and environmental requirements. Activities include design data collection, design studies, maritime studies and environmental documentation.
This action forms part of a broader global project, which aims at:

•  the creation of two new perpendicular basins directly linked to the sea (Pacific and Baltic basins)
•  the creation of two new multimodal terminals, combining road, rail, inland waterway and a direct link to the sea, one on each side of the new basins (one bulk and one container-terminal)
•  the connection of the intermodal terminals to the transport network. The basins will provide a direct access to railway and inland waterways
